A forgotten vintage platter, given a rather spectacular second life.
This one-of-a-kind peacock wall art began with an aged, unmarked metal platter found waiting to become something entirely different.
At its center I've mounted a round birch panel engraved with an intricate peacock surrounded by flowers and foliage. Instead of my typically softer coloring style, I chose vibrant acrylic paint markers for this piece so the brilliant turquoise, teal, green and blue of the peacock could hold its own against the aged metal.
The feather details are finished with shimmering accents and dimensional resin-and-glitter centers that catch the light as you move past the piece. The outer metal rim was hand finished with deep metallic teal wax and then distressed, allowing portions of the original silver-colored metal to show through. The platter's aged brass-tone decorative hardware was left visible to preserve its vintage character.

Decorative wall art
The birch artwork is securely attached using strong double-sided foam adhesive rather than permanent glue, allowing the vintage platter itself to remain largely unaltered.
Please note: This is a repurposed vintage object and the original platter shows signs of its previous life, including age-related wear and scratches on the reverse. The platter is unmarked, so its maker and exact metal composition are unknown. These imperfections are part of the character of the piece and do not affect the artwork when displayed.
Because this is a one-of-a-kind piece created from a found vintage object, another exactly like it will not be made.
